Red Hill work activity Sunday 7 April 2019

The Red Hill Regenerators invite you to our next activity of 2019, which will be held on Sunday 7 April starting at 9am Welcome to our next activity of 2019. We plan to meet at parking area near the start of Red Hill Drive, just above the cut off drain.  We will focus on ‘cut and dab’ woody weeds including briar rose, pyracantha and cotoneasta. Our special weed this month will be cootamundra wattles. Time: Sunday 7 April 2019 Work: 0900 to 1230, with byo morning tea at 1100.  More information: info@redhillregenerators.org.auPrior registration is not required. Location: Meet at the car park near the bottom of Red Hill Drive just above the cut off drain Activities:  Cut and dab cootamundra wattle, briar rose and woody weeds; spray and chip verbascum and thistle; map rabbit warrens and coconut ant nests. Conditions:  Mostly sloping wooded hillside with some dense scrub. You bring: Water to drink, hat, long sleeved shirt, long pants, eye protection, sunscreen cream, solid shoes, byo morning tea. We bring: We will provide tools, dabbers, gloves and instructions Note: It is important that you attend the safety briefing at 9.00am.  Children under 15 years must be accompanied and supervised by a parent or guardian. Individuals who are under 18 years must have parental or guardian consent. Those wishing to use the manual spray equipment are strongly urged to obtain free training from Parks & Conservation in the use of chemicals. The herbicide used in dabbers and spray packs is glyphosate (Roundup). Cancellation: The activity will be cancelled by email (if possible) if enough rain/wind is forecast to make planned work potentially hazardous, or high temperatures before midday are forecast. NOTE: In addition to the monthly work activities, other events of interest for your diary include a Heritage Walk (14 April), Wildflower/wildlife Walk (2 November) and a Butterfly Walk (30 November).
