Commonwealth Environment Program Grant helps weed reduction on Red Hill

The Red Hill Regenerators applied for a grant from the Commonwealth Environment Fund to help treat large scale weed infestation on Red Hill. A grant of $15,000 was awarded in December 2019, and was managed by the Southern ACT Catchment Management Group, which assisted in the grant application. Weed spraying commenced in May 2020, consisting of spot spraying African Love Grass and Serrated Tussock, mainly along the edges of Red Hill Drive, together with spot spraying of areas of Patterson’s Curse and St John’s Wort. The Patterson’s Curse was resprayed in June 2020 to maximise the impact.

$12,227 was spent on the spraying contract with Willow and Environmental Management Services P/L, with the balance of the grant being absorbed in contract management fees by SACTCG.
