Red Hill work activity Sunday 6 June 2021 9am

You are invited to join us on Sunday 6 June 2021 at 09.00am for our next work activity on Red Hill.   On Sunday, we plan to continue our progress from previous months to deal with mainly verbascum, by beheading/dabbing the flower spikes, chipping small plants and spraying others.

More information: info@redhillregenerators.org.au

Location: Park at the top of Brereton Street, Garran by 9am.  The park gate will be unlocked at 9am for those who want to drive in convoy into the reserve to the activity site, which will be located  on the track about 400m south of the Davidsons Trig where the Gandalf Trail meets the Davidsons Trail, near the power lines.  The gate at Brereton St will be locked until we leave at 12.30pm.  If you wish to drive up the Gandalf Trail from Mugga Way car park, please assemble there at 8.45am when Sue Ross will  unlock the gates. The Mugga Way car park gates into the Reserve will also be locked until we leave at 12.30pm

We plan to devote the time to dealing with verbascum in three groups – chipping in non rocky areas; cut, dab and bag flower and seed head; and backpack spraying on the rocky area near the Trig. Any new thistle growth can also be chipped.

Conditions: open bush, gentle to steep slopes, rocky in parts. Extensive coverage by saffron thistles.

You bring: Water to drink, hat, gloves, long sleeved shirt, long pants essential, eye protection, sunscreen, solid enclosed shoes. BYO morning tea. Also bring gloves, hand sanitiser, your own pen for signing the book and your own tools if possible. (See Covid 19 Advice below)

We bring:  Herbicide dabbers and spray packs, heavy duty bin bags and some hand sanitiser, disinfected tools, and instructions. (See Covid 19 Advice below)

NoteIt is important that you attend the Covid safety and activity briefing at 0915 at the activity site.    A byo morning tea is usually held at 11am, with an opportunity to discuss matters of relevance to the Group.
