Red Hill Regenerators (RHR) has been successful in applying for a $29,400 grant from the ACT Government under the 2023-2024 ACT Environmental Grants Program.
When RHR was formed in 1989, at least 50% of the Reserve was classified as low-quality woodland. As a result of our hard work in partnership with the ACT Government Parks and Conservation Service, the proportion of low-quality woodland has reduced to 10%. This grant is part of a project to convert the remaining low-quality woodland to high-quality by reducing the proportion of weeds such as Verbascum and Scotch Thistle. The plan is to complete this in time for our 40th anniversary in 2029. To do this, we will be focussing on certain areas between the saddle leading up to Mt Davidson, extending behind Garran and up to Hindmarsh Drive. The project was proposed by Wayne Fletcher and he is taking the lead in making it happen. More information will be made available here
