  • 14 October 2013: The November working bee will be on Sunday 3 November 2013 from 9am to 12.30pm. We will be following up through the area burned earlier in the year adjacent to Red Hill Drive, taking out small Cootamundra wattle seedlings that have germinated and other woody weeds that are shooting after the burn. The nearest access is from the gate about 100m up Red Hill Dr from the Stonehaven Cres roundabout. Wear protective clothing, bring water and morning tea. Tools, instructions provided. More…

  • 24 April 2013: Your comments are sought before 24 May 2013, regarding a proposed development on 1/24 Garran, between Rusden Street and Hindmarsh Drive. The development sites abuts Red Hill nature reserve on its eastern boundary. The development footprint has been well sited to avoid a stand of red gums along what used to be the start of Yarralumla Creek – but is now an underground concrete drain. Most of the development site is dominated by exotic grasses. At this stage Red Hill Regenerators will make a low key submission re choice of plants in their landscaping, ensuring that the development does not require additional asset protection measures within the reserve, or infrastructure connections across the reserve and not having construction vehicles park or dump staff within the reserve during construction. Access the work site from Mugga Way, either via the pines near the Red Hill Drive roundabout, or the laneway located at the Tamar St/Mugga Way junction.   • 3 March 2013: We have now revamped our notice boardwhich is located at the Mugga Way car park, and plan to place notices about the work of this Group at entrances to the Reserve. Anything for the notice board should be sent here.

  • 17 January 2013: Thanks to Ross, Sue and Paul for giving some much needed water to the tubestock plantings on Red Hill. 330 trees and shrubs were planted in May 2011 and most have survived and growing strongly.
  • 25 January 2013: The next working bee will be held on Sunday 3 February 2013, from 9:00 – 12:30. We will begin at the base of the track that goes from near the summit road to the water tanks and Parliament House Lookout. The car with equipment will be parked on the track that runs along the base of Red Hill parallel with Mugga Way and off the Red Hill Summit road about 200m uphill from the roundabout, just past that funny little telecommunication installation, in square B4 of Map 23 in the Yellow Pages.
