- 28 November 2012: The December working bee will be held on Sunday 2 December from 9am to 12.30pm. We will be working in and around the site of the plantings on the top of the ridge, above Bonwick and Astley places in Garran. Stakes and tree guards need to be placed around some plants and grass growing around plants pulled out. Others will spray either thistles or St John’s wort, while others will be mattocking weeds. The activity on Sunday 4 November will be a morning walk observing wildlflowers and wildlife followed by our AGM and coffee at the cafe. November is the best time on Red Hill and we will see many rare and threatened plants in flower .Meet at the cafe on Red Hill at 9am. TheAGM will be held in the cafe at 11am. - 12 May 2012: The ACT Governmemt has advertised its intention to close the road corridors which include Gowrie Drive and part of Strickland Crescent and which pass through Red Hill Nature Reserve, and amalgamate them into the Reserve. students from the Fenner School of Environment and Society at ANU have completed research projects on the endangered Button Wrinklewort (BWW) in Stirling Park. They found that a cool burn did not reduce BWW numbers and that weed populations declined in the burnt woodland habitat.
