April working bee on Red Hill: Sunday 5 April 2015

Dear Friends of Red Hill,

The Red Hill Regenerators writes to invite you to help with our third working bee of 2015 on Sunday 5 April 2015.

As we move into autumn it is important to deal with deciduous woody weeds before the leaves start to turn colour. Once this happens the application of herbicides is less effective.  So this month we are focussing on removing woody weeds including deciduous Nettle trees along the base of Red Hill behind Mugga Way, between the main car park north about 400m to the cafe walking path.  The details:

Time: Sunday 5 April 2015 Work: 0900 to 1230

More information: Michael Mulvaney

mulvaney@netspeed.com.au.  Prior registration is not required.

Location: Large gravel car park on Mugga Way to the south of Flinders way, Red Hill (where the Parkcare signs are located).

Activities: Cutting and dabbing woody weeds.

Conditions: Flat to moderately steep, some gullies and brambles. Close to car.

You bring: Water, hat, long sleeved shirt, long pants, sunburn cream, solid shoes, eye protection, byo morning tea.

We bring: Gloves, tools, herbicides, safety briefing and instructions

Note: The event will be cancelled by email (if practicable)  in the unlikely event of rain, a total fire ban day or if the forecast is for temperatures of 35ºC or more.

The other monthly work parties scheduled for 2015 are:

Sunday 3 May

Sunday 7 June

Sunday 5 July

Sunday 2 August
