Federal Golf Club development proposal: 18 April 2017 update

RHR were invited to meet on 18 April with representatives from the Federal Golf Club and the developer, Mbark (FGC/Mbark).
They advised that they had looked at options for a changed footprint to address concerns about the proximity of the development to Garran and the need to clear mature trees in that area. FGC/Mbark have decided to continue with their current planned footprint for a number of reasons including the different environmental impact of the proposed changes.  They advised that they would work to minimise the impact on Garran residents as much as possible.

FGC/Mbark will participate in a community panel if it proceeds and RHR is also interested in participating in the panel.
A number of other issues were discussed including the fact that little or no work that affected the reserve would be required for the provision of water, sewerage and electricity for the development. However, an upgrade including widening would be undertaken for the entry road.
Concern was expressed by RHR about the potential for future developments beyond the current proposal. Although FGC/Mbark advised they had no plans for future developments, no definite assurances were provided to RHR in this regard but were requested and will be considered.
FGC/Mbark planned to submit a Development Application by August 2017. They plan to hold information evenings for the broader community.
