The Federal Golf Club has been attempting since last century to generate revenue by developing part of the golf course. On each occasion the ACT Government has not approved their proposal. The latest proposal goes even further by wanting to expand the golf course boundary into the Red Hill Nature Reserve. An inspection of the proposed boundaries of the development shown on the web site of their principal developer Global Lifestyles Developments P/L, indicates a boundary across the golf course access road (which is itself located within the Nature Reserve boundary) and into the Reserve. It appears that the only purpose for this encroachment into the Reserve is to improve the views from residences to be built up to the existing lease boundary of the golf club.
The Regenerators not only reject any incursion from the golf club into the Red Hill Nature Reserve, but seeks return of internationally recognised Red gum/Yellow box woodland, currently within the golf club lease, back into the Reserve, as recommended by the ACT Government in 1999.
