The RHR is taking on a big task of planting 700 trees, shrubs and forbs in the Reserve. The first task was to prepare the area for planting which involved the removal of weeds. Weed removal helps improve the area for the planting by helping to ensure new plants will have a good chance of growing without competing with weeds. On the 1st of March RHR members got together and marked areas for planting. Unfortunately we didn’t get as much participation in this activity as others, luckily we had some sprightly newcomers join in which was a great help.
We are planning to plant in two stages. Stage 1 is for 320 trees, shrubs and forbs on Sunday the 22nd of March and we can use as many hands as possible. We will also need to water each plant and install guards, so there is a good variety of tasks. If you can’t stay for the whole time don’t worry, even an hour is a great help!
We hope to see you all there!
Thank you again to our helpers on the 1st of March.
