Red Hill Regenerators Planting Activity 2026
The Red Hill Regenerators had a very successful Planting Day on Sunday 22 March. I would like to thank the volunteers who contributed to this successful activity.
Approximately 370 plants were planted in an area of 1.3ha. The plants comprised four tree species (yellow box, redgum, applebox and kurrajong), seven shrub species and two forb species (yellow buttons and sticky everlasting daisies).
I have attached a picture taken in November 2023 of part of the area that was planted on Sunday. As can be seen it was a sea of waste high weeds. Due to hundreds of hours of effort by volunteers the weeds were controlled, and the area was made suitable for planting. The next pictures show the area after planting on Sunday. As a result of this tremendous effort this area of the reserve is well on the way to being transformed from a low-quality area to high-quality woodland.

On Wednesday 8 April volunteers will mark out the next two areas to be planted .
The next Planting Day will be on Sunday 19 April 2026. The aim will be to plant over 300 plants in a total area of over 1ha.
This planting activity has been made possible by an ACT Environment Grant, with assistance from the Parks and Conservation Service, and many hours of work by volunteers.
Once again, we look forward to many volunteers helping with planting on 19 April 2026. A further reminder will be sent out prior to the event.
Thank you
