Red Hill work activity Sunday 7 June 2020 9.00am – 12.30pm

Welcome to our first Sunday working bee on Red Hill for a while.  The good news is that we are now permitted to work as a group on Red Hill, providing that Covid19 precautions are followed (see below). This work activity will focus on our two toughest weeds (no, not verbascum this time) – Horehound and ivy. More information: info@redhillregenerators.org.au. Location: Meet in Hampden Place, Deakin (just north of the Telstra Offices on Kent Street, Deakin). Activities:
  1. Chip/pull mature horehound plants from our favourite patch close to the temporary fence.  There are also lots of small horehound plants which have recently germinated and which will be sprayed later;
  2. Chip/pull/wrestle/chop and dab ivy from two significant patches;
  3. lop and dab briar rose and other associated woody weeds.
Conditions: Flat to sloping, with trips. You bring: Water to drink, hat, gloves, long sleeved shirt, long pants, eye protection, sunscreen cream, solid enclosed shoes. BYO morning tea. Bring hand sanitiser and your own tools if possible. (See Covid 19 Advice below) We bring: Extra leather gloves, herbicide dabbers, some hand sanitiser, disinfected tools, and instructions. (See Covid 19 Advice below) Note: It is important that you attend the Covid safety and activity briefing at 0900.    A byo morning tea is usually held at 11am, with an opportunity to discuss matters of relevance to the Group. Such discussions constitute ‘General Meetings’ as defined by the Rules of our organisation and may be minuted. ***********************************************************************

Covid 19 Advice

1. Maximum permitted group size is 20 persons,  practicing 1.5 social distancing at all times; 2. All shared tools will be disinfected before and after use. If you have your own tools please bring them; 3. Hand sanitiser will be available. Hands should be sanitised at the group meeting place, before and after putting on gloves or using shared tools. If you have your own gloves and /or hand sanitiser please bring them; 4. Please do not sign the attendance book or touch shared equipment without first sanitising your hands; 5. If you feel unwell please stay at home. ********************************************************************** Cancellation: The activity will be cancelled by email (if possible) if rain/wind is forecast which could make planned work potentially hazardous, high temperatures before midday are forecast, total fire bans are announced, air pollution is ‘hazardous’ or Covid 19 restrictions in force.
