On Wednesday 13 November 2024 we plan to work up the track from the top of Brereton Street towards Davidson’s Trig, looking for mainly verbascum, but also other weeds including thistles and briar rose, which are growing strongly and need to be removed before they flower. So there will be opportunities for chipping and other opportunities for cut/dab.

Location: Park and assemble at the top end of Brereton Street, Garran just below the Reserve gate. Task and safety briefings will be held at 9am sharp followed by a walk along the maintenance trail towards the ridge. Morning tea will be at 11am either at our work site, or at the assembly point. Work usually wraps up at about 12.30pm.
Activities: Cut/dab woody weeds, chip verbascum and thistle.
Conditions: Walk uphill towards the ridge. Mostly cleared bush along the ridge.
You bring: Water to drink, hat, leather gloves, long sleeved shirt, long pants essential, eye protection, sunscreen, solid enclosed shoes. BYO morning tea.
We bring: Tools – We will bring secateurs, loppers, saws, some small mattocks and herbicide dabbers (bring your empty dabbers to exchange for full ones). We will also bring a basic first aid kit, and provide tool use and weeding ID and advice as needed. Bring your own tools, if available.
Note: It is important for insurance reasons that you attend the activity safety briefing at 0900 to obtain tools, directions and to sign in and out. A byo morning tea is usually held at 11am, with an opportunity to discuss matters of relevance to the Group. Such discussions constitute ‘General Meetings’ as defined by the Rules of our organisation and may be minuted. Work will normally finish at 12.30pm
