Red Hill working bee Sunday 2 April 2017

The Red Hill Regenerators invite you to our next working bee which will be held on Sunday 2 April 2017 at 9am

It’s time to tackle some deciduous woody weeds before they start to drop their leaves. So this month we will remove a grove of nettle trees, and other woody weeds on this section of the hill

The details:

Time: Sunday 2 April 2017 Work: 0900 to 1200, with byo morning tea at 1100.

Location: Meet at the Red Hill Lookout (this is NOT at the restaurant, but is located at the north end of the ridge next to the water tank and overlooking Parliament House)

Activities:

1. Cut and daub woody weeds and remove Nettle trees;
2. Behead and daub thistles and verbascum
 3. Locate and record rabbit warrens and weeds using Collector App.
Conditions:  Steepish sloping woodland with dense spiky thickets in places. Lots of spider webs at face height from leaf curling and jewel spiders. Watch out for European wasp nests.

You bring: Water, hat, long sleeved shirt, long pants, sunburn cream, solid shoes, eye protection, byo morning tea.

We bring: Gloves, tools, herbicides. Safety briefing and instructions at 9.15am. In the event of an equipment shortage, priority for tools will be given to Red Hill Regenerators members.

Note: Children under 16 years must be accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult. Work parties will be cancelled by email (if possible) if: a) the forecast is for > 35 deg C, b) it is a total fire ban day, c) there is lightning, or d) there is heavy rain.
