Members of the community are invited to comment on the recent proposal by developer Hindmarsh, to build 20,000sqm of self storage sheds on part of S66 Deakin, adjacent to the Red Hill Nature Reserve (reported in the Canberra Times on 1 May 2018). The Red Hill Regenerators have provided comments on the ecological assessment report which was prepared by the developer, and has emailed our response on 24 May 2018 to this development here…

In considering the application the planning authority has to consider the Lease Variation General Code which sits under the Territory Plan . Unfortunately the code doesn’t say a lot and the test of most relevance is that “the land to which the lease applies is suitable for the development or use authorised by the varied use”
