Watering

A big thank you to the volunteers who attended the watering activity on Tuesday 22 September.  The group managed to water the 700+ plants.  A massive effort.  While a few plants have been lost, most of the plants are in good condition, as can be seen from the images.

Many volunteers were involved with the planting of the plants in March and April 2026.  The aim of these plantings is to transform this area of low-quality woodland to high-quality woodland, providing great habitat for birds and other fauna.  It will also be a wonderful area for recreation.

The weather forecast indicates that we are potentially facing a hot, dry Spring and Summer.

We are now calling for volunteers to indicate their interest in being involved in watering the plants in the coming months. The more people that volunteer, the less time the task will take, and the greater the chances of the plants surviving and thriving.  It would be helpful to indicate when you would be available to assist with watering – during the week/on the weekend.  Please send an email to  info@redhillregenerators.org.au  Once volunteers have responded we will be able to develop some watering strategies.

Watering and maintaining the plantings is an important initiative.  Through this activity we can all be involved in improving the condition of the critically endangered woodland contained within the Red Hill Nature Reserve.
