Red Hill work activity on Wednesday 17 December 2025 from 9am to 12noon

Red Hill work activity on Wednesday 17 December 2025 from 9am to 12noon

Our final work activity for 2025 provides an opportunity to contribute to the conservation of the endangered Button Wrinkle wort.  This work activity will involve counting Button Wrinklewort plants – no digging, chipping, slashing, cutting and dabbing.  One of this native daisy’s key global habitats is on Red Hill, where its numbers rise and fall. The last major count indicated a population of about 3,400.plants, down from a high of 7,000, which places Red Hill as the 7th largest population in the world.  The map below shows habitat in two general locations – above Strickland Crescent, Deakin and above Calthorpes House, Red Hill.  The count will be supervised by Michael Mulvaney.
