As part of our ongoing Weed Strategy, we will target verbascum regrowth following the spraying by contractors using the ACT Government grant last year. We will cut and dab the flower spikes that are appearing or chip the new rosettes. Location: Park and assemble on Mugga Way above Zeehan Street, Red Hill. Task and safety briefings will be held at 9am sharp. Work usually wraps up at about 12.30pm, but will finish earlier if it gets too hot.
Activities: Cut/dab and chip verbascum
Conditions: moderate to steep slopes, rocky in parts, with open bush.
You bring: Water to drink, hat, leather gloves, long sleeved shirt, long pants essential, eye protection, sunscreen, solid enclosed shoes. BYO morning tea.
We bring: Tools – We will bring secateurs, loppers, saws, some mattocks and herbicide dabbers (bring your empty dabbers to exchange for full ones). We will also bring a basic first aid kit, and provide tool use and weeding ID and advice as needed. Bring your own tools, if available.
Note:
It is important that you attend the activity safety briefing at 0900 and sign in and out. A byo morning tea is usually held at 11am, when the Special General Meeting will be held. Work will normally finish at 12.30pm
