Regenerators working bee Sunday 2 October 2016

The Red Hill Regenerators invite you to our next working bee of 2016 on Sunday 2 October 2016 (Daylight saving starts today!)

This will be the last time this year that we will be able to remove Cootamundra Wattles before they set seed, so we will be focussing some of our attention on these, in addition to dealing with our ‘weed of the month’, the Oregon Grape. This is easy to spot as it is currently in flower.  We will be working along the ‘rabbit proof fence’ half way up the side of the hill from Mugga Way, where there are lots of Cootamundra Wattles and Oregon Grape. At the northern end of this fence is a meadow of Early Nancys to enjoy.

The details:

Time: Sunday 2 October 2016 Work: 0900 to 1230, with byo morning tea at 1100

More information: info@redhillregenerators.org.au. Prior registration is not required.

Location: Meet above the dirt parking area at the top end of Flinders Way. We will work north along the old ‘rabbit proof fence’ about 100m up the hill.

Activities:

1. Cut and daub mainly Cootamundra wattle (seedlings to mature), Oregon Grape outbreaks and some other woody weeds;
 2. Locate and record rabbit warrens and weeds using Collector App.
Conditions:  Gently sloping woodland with dense wattle thickets in places. Some fencing wire tripping hazard.

You bring: Water, hat, long sleeved shirt, long pants, sunburn cream, solid shoes, eye protection, byo morning tea.

We bring: Gloves, tools, herbicides. Safety briefing and instructions at 9.15am. In the event of an equipment shortage, priority for tools will be given to Red Hill Regenerators members.
